Tips for Online School

Here are some easy but effective ways on how to be organised and prepared for online classes.

o   Draw/print out a timetable including times and breaks. If you would like to be extra organised you could colour code your subjects. For example: Irish green, Maths blue. Stick this on your wall beside or somewhere near your desk so you can easily see what subjects you have next.

o   Make sure you have a clean organised desk, and that it doesn't get cluttered.

o   Having a comfy chair and desk light will make things easier and more comfortable for you.

o   Always have either a copy or journal beside you to write down any homework you get as emails can get easily lost. Try not to write it on a piece of paper as that can get easily misplaced.

o   Try to have as little distractions around you, trust me it will help.

o   Have each subject's books in a folder or neat pile, again if you want to be really organised you can have colour coded folders that correspond with your timetable. Keep all your folders in a safe place together, you could use a large box.

o   Having a simple morning schedule will have you fresh and ready for the day. Having cleaned your room and done all your homework the night before will already make things less stressful in the mornings. Since class starts at 8:35 try and get up before 8 o’clock as that will give you enough time to have a shower to wake you up, do your hair and get dressed. Make sure you're down to the kitchen to have breakfast by 8:15 because you need to have a breakfast that will fill you up and get you ready for the day.(breakfast is proven to be the most important meal). After you’ve had a filling breakfast, be back up to your room (or wherever you do your zoom meetings) 5 minutes before your class so you have enough time to find your zoom link.

o   Set alarms 5 minutes before each class to make it easier for you and that the teachers don’t have to wait for you to join.

o   Try to have only your school tabs open in google, then minimize it so you can easily access the tabs like your eBooks, thisislanguage, spiral and google classroom. So then you don’t have to take forever signing back into everything.

o   Here is a link on how to make folders in Gmail:

o   In Gmail keep all your recurring zoom links in your inbox then star your emails that include homework that are due, so then you know when you look at your inbox if there are no starred emails then you have completed all your homework. If you download google calendar most teachers zoom emails have a link to add the zoom details at the right time on the right day and you can set it to send you a 5 or 10 minute alarm before each class including the link in the notification
